5 Must-Have Business Tools for The Modern Realtor

You hear what they say… “It no longer only takes photos and a sign in the yard to sell a house.”

Yeah… it never only took that. That’s just the unfortunate standard in the industry.

It’s changing though. I see it with my own eyes in the partnerships I’ve built all over the Nation. If you’re looking for tools to help you be the best real estate agent you strive to be, here’s a few of my must-have favorites.

community

Get in rooms with the agents you look up to. You’ll find the good ones open the door for you. Build relationships and partnerships with those around you, even inside your own market. Don’t let the fear of scarcity allow you to believe there isn’t enough room for all of us. There is.

A good way to do this is Facebook Groups. I know, we all hate Facebook, huh. This is the loophole if you’re in the correct ones. Make sure you have a way to keep in touch with other agents and what is helping them to be successful. And take notes!

social media presence

I love MASC, but there are a few other options that are great. In order for social media to provide all that it can in your business, YOU have to show up. You can’t schedule it with someone else and post a generic ass graphic and hope people are captivated by it. (I’m sorry, I said it.)

I LOVE the friendships I have built inside Chelsea Peterson’s community, but I also love that teaches how to change the content they create for you, and make it stand out from everyone else’s. I like to sprinkle this content in here and there, but it’s a life savor to have a system that helps me brainstorm ways to educate my friends, clients, and family.

systems that work

Trello, Notion, Asana, whatever. You cannot build sustainably flying by the seat of your pants. Alyssa and Katy from Hustle Humbly have a wonderful course on Agent Systems and it will change your life.

You can also use YouTube to discover other methods that work. Take the tip to build out your SOP’s and you’ll run a much smoother business.

weekly education

Podcasts, Masterminds, CE, Local Groups, MLS Meetings, Office Meetings, Cohorts, whatever floats your boat, make sure you’re spending at least 1 hour a week learning something.

This industry changes overnight. In order to properly educate, you have to know your sh*t. There’s no going around that. The more you know, the more confidence you’re able to provide your clients in whichever decision that need to make.

Sales skills

What? I don’t wanna sound salesy.

Then don’t. This is what having sales skills is about.

You are not a door opener, you are an advisor. Sales skills aren’t a bad thing. Lying in order to make a sale is. Commission breath stinks. If your core values are rooted and unwavering, then growing your sales skills is only going to make you a better advisor.

You need to be able to understand what your clients needs.

You need to be able to have that conversation with them.

Your client needs information relayed to them in a certain and specific way.

It’s your job to figure that out. You can’t do any of this if you are afraid to pick up the phone and talk to them.

There’s a million and one places to start. Our next Cohort kicks off April 5th.
